Plans for the Bloomington meeting were formally announced at DDA57 in Chicago in June 2026. During the presentation, IU astronomer Cristobal Petrovich introduced attendees to Bloomington, the IU campus, and the Indiana Memorial Union, where the five-day meeting will be held. Petrovich is chair of the local organizing committee and a member of the DDA Governing Committee.
The DDA is part of the American Astronomical Society and supports research into the motion and evolution of objects throughout the universe. Its members study a wide range of topics, including planets, exoplanetary systems, star clusters, galaxies, celestial mechanics, and solar system dynamics.
The meeting program will include invited talks by DDA prize recipients, research presentations and poster sessions, as well as a public lecture for the broader Bloomington community.
The local organizing committee also includes IU researchers Alessandro Della Crocce, Enrico Vesperini, Songhu Wang, and Hareesh Gautham Bhaskar.
Located in the center of campus and within walking distance of Kirkwood Avenue and downtown Bloomington, the Indiana Memorial Union will provide meeting, poster, dining, and lodging space. Its compact and convenient setting will offer participants plenty of opportunities for sustained scientific interaction and informal conversation throughout the week.
The DDA’s official meeting calendar lists Bloomington as the site of the 2027 gathering. More information about the program and registration will be shared as the meeting approaches.
