Fencing right-of-way reference chart
In descending order of precedence for right-of-way:
- derobement
(deception of an attack on the blade)
- attacks on the blade
(e.g. prise de fer, beat attack, etc.)
- point in line
- simple attack
- stop-hit in time
- compound attack
- stop-hit
- reprise or redoublement of the attack
Additionally, after an attack (of any sort) has been parried, the
right-of-way is:
- immediate riposte
- remise of the parried attack
- delayed riposte
