Student Images |
Weather permitting, students in A105 who are participating in the
NovaSearch project will have an opportunity to obtain images of
astronomical objects obtained with the CCD camera on the WIYN 0.9-m
telescope at Kitt Peak. Students will be able to select astronomical
objects to observe, and to select colored filters (usually 3 filters)
for the observations. Once the CCD images are obtained, students will
be able to combine the black and white images from each filter into a
composite color image using Windows or Macintosh photo software.
Observing opportunities for astronomical imaging will occur later in the semester. Experiments with astronomical imaging will count for points as one of the class projects.
