Professor Travis Rector of the University of Alaska at Anchorage developed the NovaSearch research program while he worked at the National Optical Astronomy Observatory in Tucson. Prof. Rector continues to develop research-based activities for use in introductory astronomy courses and to observe using the WIYN 0.9-m telescope at Kitt Peak.

Professor Catherine Pilachowski of Indiana University Bloomington developed the web-based version of NovaSearch use in large, lecture-based, introductory astronomy courses.

This NovaSearch website has been developed with the assistance of the Teaching and Learning Technology Center of Indiana University and graduate student Heidi Tebbe, with support from the SBC Fellows Program.

NovaSearch is based on the Research Based Science Education (RBSE) program at the National Optical Astronomy Observatory in Tucson, Arizona. RBSE was funded by the National Science Foundation.

Some information, images, and wording on these pages comes from the RBSE NovaSearch program documentation.
