Professor Travis Rector
of the University of Alaska at Anchorage developed the
NovaSearch research program while he worked at the National Optical
Astronomy Observatory in Tucson. Prof. Rector continues to develop research-based
activities for use in introductory astronomy courses and to observe using the WIYN 0.9-m
telescope at Kitt Peak.

Professor Catherine Pilachowski of Indiana University Bloomington developed the
web-based version of NovaSearch use in large, lecture-based,
introductory astronomy courses.

This NovaSearch website has been developed with the assistance
of the Teaching and Learning
Technology Center of Indiana
University and graduate student
Heidi Tebbe, with support from the
SBC Fellows Program.
NovaSearch is based on the
Research
Based Science Education (RBSE) program at the
National Optical Astronomy Observatory
in Tucson, Arizona. RBSE was funded by the
National Science Foundation.
