Brooklyn Station is just south of Indianapolis, IN in Brooklyn, IN are the 0.9 meter (36 inch) and 0.25 meter (10 inch) telescopes of the Link Observatories.
The 36-inch telescope was built for Dr. Goethe Link, an Indianapolis physician. The observatory was donated to Indiana University in 1947. The 36-inch Newtonian telescope was converted to a Cassegrain system in 1966.
The telescopes were used from the 1940's up into the mid-1980's by IU Astronomers. Photographs obtained with the 10-inch astrograph were searched for minor planets at the Minor Planet Center which was formerly located within the IU Astronomy Department. Indiana is credited with the discovery of 105 minor planets; so far, 93 have been named & published. The telescopes at the Brooklyn station are no longer used regularly for research due to the encroaching light pollution from the city of Indianapolis, IN.
The Indiana Astronomical Society uses the observatory for public events.
